Passion is not something you can “find” in a day or two.
There is no instant way of finding your passion – it’s a process of trial and error.
It takes time to figure out what inspires you, energizes you, gives you the power to wake up and feel excited every single morning.
We might have heard this a lot: “Follow your passion and you’ll never have to work a day in your life”. It’s tempting and urges you to look for your passion anywhere you can.
Passion makes your life fulfilling.
But you are making a huge mistake. In the previous article, we’ve already told you that you shouldn’t follow your passion. So what should you do instead? Keep reading to find the answer 😉
Passions vs Hobbies
At some point in life, you will be told to find your passions. Just like the majority of the young out there, you have no idea what your passions are.
Many people cannot tell the difference between passion and hobby. When you really like to do something, you might think that you’re passionate about it. However, a lot of times it’s merely a hobby.
Hobby is something you do when you’re bored or have free time. It makes you feel relaxed and happy. Passion, on the other hand, is not all about having a good time or enjoying yourself. It’s not even relaxing either. It’s an overwhelming feeling of devotion and obsession that lives inside you whether you have time for it or not.
While a hobby is just to fill you free time, a passion is something you can’t live without.
“Feel” your passion
Passion is not tangible. That’s why you can’t see or look for it. It’s definitely not a person, a place or a thing.
Instead, it’s what your heart and soul crave for.
It’s something that you naturally feel, instead of finding.
You can be working at the grocery store, stocking fruits and vegetables every day yet always feel excited to wake up to work. On the other hand, you might feel depressed and miserable working at a reputable multinational corporation making millions of dollars.
The ultimate difference is whether you feel energized when doing your job. It doesn’t matter what company you work for or what your job is, it matters how you put the energy into whatever you’re doing.
That’s why passion is not WHAT you do, but HOW you do it.
Passion = the energy
When you do something you’re passionate about, you feel whole and fulfilled. At that point, you just cannot take your mind off it as it brings joy and energy in your life.
Passion, in reality, is just the energy. You can stop looking for passion as it’s always been inside of you, all this time.
Instead of wasting time beating yourself up about how to find your passions, think about how you can bring more energy to your current life and to everything you’re doing right now. It’s fine if you don’t know what your passion is. Just start and take the first step by doing what naturally energizes you.
It could be anything. From simply reading a book to starting a business that you’ve always dreamed of. Just do it. The moment you hit the start button, you are making some progress that pushes you closer to exploring your passions. So it’s important that you start, not wait.
That’s why passion is how you’re living, not what you’re doing.
Bring as much positive energy as you can, to everything you do, then you’ll find yourself living a more passionate life right in this moment!
